Wood and glass w. thin sheet of steel: A DEEP DIVE

This side object is part of the series “Form before function”, a personal statement and approach with the process focused on the form and the final composition, while the function coming second and being sugested by the form. It has a masive volume of ash wood at the bottom and it’s continued with two mahogany sides that complete the compositon, as well as offer support for the thin sheet of steel and for the glass on top. All the wood elements are made from raw planks of wood, while the sheet of steel is hand bended in the workshop and fixed between the mahogany sides. The object has a totemic look and a sculptural aesthetic, yet offers a basic storage space, a place for a book or a lamp and qualifies as a side object. It is available in a series of 5 pieces and it’s currently at 1st one.
