Wood and glass column: A DEEP DIVE

This side object is part of the series “Form before function”, a personal statement and approach with the process focused on the form and the final composition, while the function coming second and being sugested by the form. It has two masive volumes of ash wood and finished with a glass cube on top. Both of the wood volumes were made out of raw planks of wood that were glued together and cut into the final shape, with the cilynder being worked on lathe. The object has a totemic look and a sculptural aesthetic, yet offers a basic storage space, a place for a book or a lamp and qualifies as a side object. Because of it’s strong aesthetic it can also work as a decorative object of itself, without much of a function being needed. It is available in a series of 5 pieces and it is currently at the 2nd one.
